A Buddhist Guide to the Power Places of
The Kathmandu Valley.
by:Keith Dowman
Keith Dowman, a scholar and author of some extraordinary texts launch this hidden pilgrimage guide book on the value of meditation and pilgrimage.
The purpose of making pilgrimage is to purify the mind of negative karma and its imprints and to collect merit while making prayers to bless the heart, the mind. The places of the enlightened beings, the Buddhas and the Bodhisattvas have blessings and when one goes to the holy places, the holy beings bless us the ordinary beings....
So it is very important to learn Dharma, and also to understand the real meaning of holy places and pilgrimage. It is possible, as a tourist, with no Dharma understanding or devotion to visit holy places and get a "click" of devotion. For some people, it's possible. It's their karma. But generally, pilgrimage is done with a mind of faith and Dharma understanding and then blessings are received according to one's faith.
